CHS jazz bands are preparing for their upcoming winter concert. Once a year in the bitter cold of winter, wrapped in the cloak of the Craft Theatre, CHS jazz students make music.

On December 14, Jazz I, Jazz II, Standard Deviation, and Maximum Will are expected to play a ripping performance, complete with bebop lines and bass solos for all. The evening of December 15 will see The Roaring Plenties, Jazz I, Transitions, and will be closed by BlueTruth. Both concerts will begin at 7:00 P.M.

A unique New-Orleans style rendition of the classic “Caravan” will be performed by Standard Deviation on the first night of the concerts. The old classic Ellington tune “In A Sentimental Mood”  has been prepared by BlueTruth in a traditional ballad style. “Marmaduke”, the Charlie Parker bop standard, has been honed by Jazz II. Bands have been working for months to ready for these concerts, and incredible jazz is anticipated.

Students around CHS may see posters of Senior Josh Fendrick’s face in ecstasy, Junior Jordan Siden clothed as Bob Dylan, and the infamous Coats No Coats Trio. These jazz posters provide a preview of the upcoming concerts.

Jazz II had only two more rehearsals left but they still had time to have fun. Listen to Jazz II preparing for their concert playing and singing Marmaduke.
