Watch and Tell

Finding good shows to watch isn’t always an easy task. Often, I find myself spending an unreasonable amount of time just finding something good to watch. To make this job a little easier, I went around the school asking people about recent shows that have had an impact on them. Here’s what a few students and staff had to say.
Why is it worth watching?
“I like it because it’s realistic, but it involves a hint of science fiction, and there’s a lot of mystery involved with it. The viewers are always left kind of in the dark about what’s going on, so your imagination has to come up with ideas of what may be happening, ’cause it’s, I really, a mysterious show.”
Who would you recommend it to?
“People who like mysteries and science fiction movie shows.”
Why is it worth watching?
“I think it’s, like, stylistically was really cool. And I think that it’s fun to look at, like, how the culture of anime was different, but also similar, in the ’90s versus now, which is, like, 30 years later. I think it’s really cool how the culture has changed, and how the writing has changed, and how they didn’t have as many big budget animation studios and effects, they had to kind of work with what they had, and put more emphasis on the writing and the character design and the art style.”
Who would you recommend it to?
“I think it’s not for everybody. It’s pretty violent, and, like, not everyone’s gonna be into, like, ’90s anime. But if you’re into that kind of thing, I would really recommend it.”
Why is it worth watching?
“I like how, well, the main character is not really liked. So, he just does what he wants to do, regardless of being liked or not. He doesn’t let it faze him.”
Who would you recommend it to?
“Anybody who’s into crime stories and pretty suspenseful storytelling should definitely check it out”
