CET Wraps up Tech Week and Prepares to Open the Show
December 7, 2016
The culmination of nearly three months’ works is finally here. Community Ensemble Theater’s production of “Peter and the Starcatcher”, a play adapted for the stage by Rick Ellis from the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, will open tomorrow to a full house. The play serves as a prequel to Peter Pan, and explains the journey of Peter, played by senior Callum Mein, before he ever arrived at the Darling household.
CHS sophomore Aris Chalin, an actor in the play, says that he is excited for the show to open tomorrow, but admits that it’s been a rocky road to opening. “It’s been a bit of a journey,” Chalin said. “But the whole process has been fun, it’s been enlightening, it’s been tough at times but I feel that I’ve had a really good experience”
As tech week comes to a finish before the big night, crew members are making sure that every single technical aspect of the show is picture perfect, allowing the play to reach its full potential and come to life. “It’s definitely has been feeling more like a show,” Chalin said. “Before it was this abstract thing that we were all kind of trying to get through, but now it’s actually starting to feel like something we can perform in front of an audience.”
And as far as what to expect from the show, Chalin has some pretty straightforward words: “It’s not going to be like any show you’ve ever seen.”
“Peter and the Starcatcher” opens tomorrow in Community High’s Black Box Theater. Tickets are available at showtix4u.com, and it will run until December 11.
