“The transition between middle school and high school wasn’t as successful as I hoped it to be, so I struggled freshman year. I noticed I was doing poorly. This changed once I started talking to Courtney Kiley, my FOS 1 teacher a little bit more. One memory that comes to mind is when Courtney asked me, ‘Are you okay?’ I became vulnerable and told her that I was struggling, and having a hard time. Courtney then said, ‘You’re a great student, and I’m there for you. I’ll do whatever it takes to help.’ From that moment on, I became a better student, I would say that’s the most defining moment of High School for me. I find it astounding how the teachers and staff at Community become so involved with you.”
