Second-hand style

“[Fashion] is an aspect of your appearance that you can control. Your appearance plays a lot into how people perceive you, and it’s something you can use to say something about yourself without talking to people.”

Octavia Anderson, a junior at Community High School, loves bright colors, patterns and tying knots into her shirts. Anderson is all about wearing things that look fun but are also comfortable. She gets most of her clothes at second-hand stores, Ann Arbor PTO Thrift Shop being her favorite. When on road trips, she looks for new clothes in promising thrift stores. “If you find second-hand pants that fit really well, it’s like the world’s best thing in fashion,” Anderson said.
