The school year coming to an end for Community High School (CHS) seniors can only mean one thing: Senior Edition distribution. On Friday, May 16, students eagerly filed out of their classrooms, greeted by Communicator staff members handing out the final edition of the year.
The Senior Edition is all about celebrating and honoring the senior class. The front and back cover of the magazine feature photos CHS seniors posing in various props, hats and sunglasses. While the magazine contains normal coverage, it also features old Common Application essays, “letters home” from former CHS graduates and a profile of each 2025 graduate.
For CHS senior Miguel Larios, this edition was especially special.
“I thought this edition was so good,” Larios said. “The quality is amazing and it has the aspect of being a tradition which is always fun. This one is really good because there’s a lot of personality in this edition, and I felt it.”
This year, seniors were having a celebration outside on the front lawn as the edition was handed out. This made the moment even more memorable for CHS senior Kinga Jung.
“It was the perfect day for it to be handed out because all the seniors were outside having a blast,” Jung said. “I was in my feels and I think a lot of my classmates were too.”
The senior profiles included in the edition give insight into the parts of the seniors’ lives that may not always be visible in the everyday classroom setting. Things like athletic accomplishments, artistic abilities and childhood friendships are all covered within the edition. The profiles also serve as a piece of reflection for the graduating seniors because they can reflect on the moments that have made their time at CHS memorable. Each profile is unique in its own way and shows off this year’s incredible senior class.
The creation of the senior edition of the magazine would not be possible without the Print Editor-in-Chief team. This year, the group includes two CHS seniors: Clara Freeth and Lucia Page Sander. While the final edition of this year is a proud accomplishment for the group, it’s also a bittersweet moment.
“It was super exciting that the last edition had finally come, but it also marked the end of our journey,” said junior Print Editor-in-Chief Janaki Nallamothu . “The edition kind of reflected all the work we put in throughout the entire year. It was a very sentimental moment, but I’m so glad to have been able to work with the rest of the team and create amazing magazines this year.”
The class of 2025 is set to graduate on May 30, 2025. As they depart from their CHS careers, the edition will always hold the memories and experiences that have shaped their high school careers.
