In Chicago Illinois, 2003, Jane Remover was born in a city where music is second to none, she knew she wanted to be an artist. She started developing her skills from a young age, and by 17, she released her first EP on all streaming platforms. Over the years, she’s built on her skills and has become the next big hyperpop artist with her excellent lyrics, top-notch flow and easily digestible sound.
After an incredibly successful year of touring with rapper Jpegmafia, Jane Remover is at the top of her game right now. She recently released the track ‘Flash in the Pan’. Blending both hyperpop and alternative indie, it’s a genre mash-up in a perfect way. The song’s beat feels otherworldly, and switching up multiple times throughout gives it a rollercoaster of a listening experience. The lyrics stay repetitive, with the chorus going on about how she’s a “Trash Bitch” and how her career is a “Flash in the Pan”. Remover thinks she has no self-value, and that her career status is simply a few moments in the spotlight, and it will soon fizzle out.
Jane Remover’s music shows signs of the corruption and ego the industry gives you. Lyrics such as “Everybody thinks they own a piece of me / if you want a little taste you can bite it” make the listener envision a manager trying to take parts of Remover’s fame and leads to her complying instead of getting what she deserves.
Remover has been creating music and publishing it to all platforms since 2021, and her time in the spotlight is most definitely overdue. She first blew up with the release of her album “Frailty,” which included her biggest song, “movies for guys”. “Movies for guys” is one of the greatest hyperpop songs I’ve personally ever listened to.
As Jane told SoundCloud, “This song is about crushing on someone, but then realizing not only do they not like you back, but they don’t like the idea of you.”
The song is breathtaking. The instrumental contains instant switches of sounds you’ve never heard before, the lyrics going hand in hand with the vocal pitch. It’s a perfect song. There is no flaw within it.
Her songs aren’t the only impressive thing about her, however; Remover’s live performances are top-notch. I was at the JPEGmafia concert where she opened, and before going there, I had never heard of Jane Remover. She blew most known artists out of the water with her eccentric energy, screaming, jumping, and everything in between.
Remover is a star in the making. She will be at the top one day, especially considering her first solo tour is about to start. Remover is one of those underground artists who can combine any amount of genres to create a beautiful piece of music.
