On Marcy McCormick’s first Forum Day, she led her forumettes kayaking through Argo Park. After finishing their in-school breakfast on Friday, May 9 at 9:20 a.m. (which included pancakes, sausages, juices and bagels), they made their way to the bus, on their way to Argo Park. When they got to the livery, the forum waited for Marcy to finalize the rentals as they played on the playground. Once McCormick had everything set up, they hopped in their kayaks and started paddling.
Despite the heat, they explored all around Argo, seeing turtles, fish and many geese. After more than an hour of kayaking, they returned to the park, where they were met with snacks and pizza.
After lunch, the majority of the students sat down and talked in the shade, waiting to be picked up by parents. McCormick expressed her excitement about being able to spend Forum Day in the sun.
“The weather turned out really well,” McCormick said. “Any day that I get to spend outside with really awesome students and really awesome people is a good day. I have an amazing group of students who have helped show me the ropes. We came back and we had a pizza lunch and just hung out at the park.”
Junior Jo Unk also enjoyed their time with their forumettes.
“We got good outdoor time, which is good, instead of just hanging out in a building, which is nice because it’s spring, so it’s a good temperature outside,” Unk said.
