The Class of 2026 gathered on the front lawn of Community for Senior Sunrise, a tradition that marks the start of senior year, on Tuesday, Sept. 2. Even though it was early, many seniors showed up with comfortable clothes and blankets. Starting arriving around 6:30 a.m., the lawn quickly filled with students playing music, eating donuts and taking pictures. Some brought coffee or energy drinks to stay awake, while others just curled up in their blankets and enjoyed the calm morning.

“I got up today at 5:00 a.m.,” CHS senior Emma Goblirsch said. “It was so early, but it was totally worth it and was nice to sit with everyone.”
One of the highlights was a big “Senior Sunrise” sign made by seniors Maggie Lamb, Paige Plavnick and Olivia Kreger. Groups lined up to take pictures as the sun started to rise behind them.
Many students took advantage of the quiet morning to catch up with friends they hadn’t seen all summer. The Seniors gathered in the early sunlight, talking and laughing together on the lawn. Some shared stories about their summer experiences, while others made plans for the upcoming school year.
The event wrapped up just before 8 a.m. when people started heading off to class. Most seniors are looking forward to a Senior Sunset at the end of the year.
Senior Sunrise brought the Class of 2026 together to mark the start of their final year before the busy months ahead.
