Tate McRae brought her Miss Possessive Tour to Little Caesars Arena in Detroit for the second time on October 13. The show was full of emotion, energy and unforgettable visuals. She featured 26 songs in total, mixing live performances and transitions with main melodies and a piano medley of her older songs.
McRae performed almost every track from her newest album “So Close to What” which came out in February of 2025, only excluding “Signs” and “Means I Care.” Some songs, like “One Day” and “feel like sh*t” were played on piano with their melodies, although most were sung live by McRae herself. From her biggest hits to her newer songs, each performance showed off her voice, movement and ability to simultaneously bring both singing and dancing to the stage.
The stage setup had a big part of tying the performance together. It included two levels, with a raised platform above the main stage where McRae performed several songs, and a circular stage placed near the back of the floor by the lower bowl. The circular stage was used for some of the slower, more emotional songs including the ones she played on the piano. Between the smoke, fire bursts and sparks shooting from the stage, the visuals matched the intensity of her songs perfectly.
McRae also had four outfit changes throughout the concert, each fitting a different part of the show. She opened with a black strappy outfit, similar to the one from her tour promo photos. Later, she changed into a look with baggy pants and a bedazzled bra, which reflected the vibes of songs from her later album, “THINK LATER”. When she moved to the circular stage, she wore a sheer black dress that fit the mood of her sadder songs. For the final part of the show, she came out in a royal blue set, closing the night with more high-energy songs.
For fans with VIP tickets, the experience began earlier in the day. VIP guests were invited to a pre-show acoustic performance, a Q&A session and had early access to tour merchandise. Each VIP ticket holder also received a special bag that included a poster, a VIP badge, a photo booth picture of McRae and a disposable camera. During the acoustic set, McRae performed a cover of “Apologize” by Timbaland featuring the popular band OneRepublic. She said it was one of her favorite songs as a kid, and when deciding which song to cover during her sound check, it immediately came to mind. She also answered a few fan questions that were randomly picked, making the session feel more personal.
From the start of the concert to walking out into the fan-crowded streets, the Miss Possessive Tour felt as if it was more than just a concert; it was a full experience. With live vocals, mesmerizing choreography and moments that felt both cinematic and intimate, McRae showed why her music connects so deeply with her fans. The show highlighted her versatility with powerful performances that had the crowd singing along the whole night.
