Alex Plum is the CEO of the Corner Health Center in Ypsilanti, an adolescent-focused, one-stop healthcare organization serving young people ages 12–25 and their children. The Corner provides comprehensive, judgment-free services including primary medical care, mental health therapy, case management, health education, programs for young parents and youth leadership, and a free store offering clothing, food, and household items. The center operates on sliding-scale fees, avoids sending patients to collections, and partners with local hospitals and community groups to keep care affordable and accessible.
The organization’s work extends beyond clinical care to address broader issues shaping access to health services. Efforts to preserve Medicaid funding, maintain affordability, and uphold inclusive care standards are central to its mission. Despite recent political and policy challenges across the nation, the Corner Health Center remains a steadfast provider of equitable and compassionate care. Importantly, gender-affirming care is still available through the center. The goal of Corner Health is to continue to ensure that all young people can access the care they need without fear or discrimination.
