It’s Anyone’s Guess
As another Michigan football season comes to a close, Michigan football fans are looking desperately for some kind of success. After Michigan lost their final game of the season to long-time rival Ohio State in a crushing 30 point blowout, fans have begun to clamor for change. Now the question is coming up with increasing frequency; will Rich Rodriguez be the coach of Michigan football in fall 2011?
Although no official word has been given by Dave Brandon, the Athletic Director of University of Michigan, the issue is still heavily debated between fans, especially students in the community.
Here are the basics:
- Rich Rodriguez’s record at Michigan is 15-20.
- Michigan football has made their first bowl game this year in the three years that Rich Rodriguez has been coaching. Michigan will most likely be competing in the Insight Bowl on December 28th.
- There are three years remaining on his initial six year contract that pays an average of 2.5 million per year.
- Michigan football’s record has improved every year since Rich Rodriguez’s record setting nine loss season.
- Rich Rodriguez is 0-11 against Big Ten opponents that finish with a winning conference record.
The football team’s future is a topic of great debate among the staff and students at Community High School. Here’s what the community says about whether Rich Rodriguez will be coaching Michigan football next fall:
Do you think Rich Rodriguez will be coaching for Michigan in the 2011 season?
Dan Eder – “I hope not! Since he’s been here they’ve had a losing record every year. If it’s not him it’s some of the coaches he’s recruited. Michigan used to always have a good defense but when he came the defense fell apart. I don’t think it matters too much that we have ‘new’ players, they’ve been playing for awhile they know what they are doing. I think it matters more on the play calling.”
Melissa Cunningham – “No I think he will get laid off. I don’t want him to lose his job but Michigan can’t lose to OSU for an eighth year in a row.”
Chris Crosby – “Yeah he needs to be coaching next fall if they want to win more games next year. They’ll execute plays better next year. I don’t really care for him but he will probably still be there.”
Drew Chappell – “Nope, he is going to get fired right away! He is not good at his job.”
Kevin Davis – “Yeah [he will be coaching] he has a four year plan. You can’t attack a football team when its not your players. Next year he won’t have any excuses they’re all his player next year. They’re going to go 9-3 and beat OSU [Ohio State University] guaranteed.”
