Vocalist, songwriter, whistler, and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Bird performed at the Power Center in Ann Arbor on June 18, 2011. Bird wowed the crowd with his creative use of a variety of instruments in a cohesive manner. Essentially a one-man band, Bird layers meters of different instruments by recording and looping music live. Classically trained in violin, Bird strums the violin like a guitar in addition to playing traditionally. Bird also whistles, sings, and plays the xylophone, piano, and guitar.
