If you’re into horror movies, then “Sinister” is definitely for you! “Sinister” is directed by Scott Derrickson and written by Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill. This movie is a thriller about a man who writes fictional murder novels that are based on true events.
After writing his first two books, main character Ellison Oswalt, played by Ethan Hawke, decides to move into the crime scene, causing a string of unfortunate events when he finds a box of old home movies in the attic. Each movie starts off normally, with your average, run-of-the-mill, four person family, but has a sick twist at the end.
This movie keeps you on the edge of your seat. The use of the score is amazing, changing between soft, dramatic music, to loud, high frequency that will have you jumping out of your seat. The special effects are stunning, making all of the blood and guts seem real.
The ghostly children and creepy, half-alive monsters look so realistic and are totally convincing. The movie was totally believable and definitely had me scared for days. Scary movies are usually pretty easy for me to handle, but I constantly had my eyes covered and there was no lack of screams in my part of the theater! Be warned, if you are not one for blood and gore then this movie might not be for you, but if that is what you like, then this movie should keep you entertained the whole way through!
