Twilight Saga: New Moon Shatters Records

On the opening weekend “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” broke records, coming third in money reeled in on opening weekend in the history of movie making. This movie came third to the “Dark Knight”, which is #1 and “Spider-Man 3”,which is #2.

The movie was not great, but was good enough to make those faithful to the series come happily. The movie’s star, Robert Pattinson, was the main attraction that had girls all over the world screaming, and dragging their boyfriends along for the ride. The werewolf had girls asking for more and coming to see it multiple times just to see Taylor Lautner, 17, shirtless over and over again.

The movie is based around a girl named Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart, who in the previous movie, falls in love with a vampire named Edward Cullen, played by Pattinson. In the beginning of the story, the viewers see Bella and Edward spending time with each other during and after school, but Edward realizes how his family reacts to Bella’s blood after receiving a paper cut, and decides he must  leave to protect Bella from himself and his family.

Bella spends months in her room staring out of her window, hoping to see her love return to her. Her father then tells her that she is going to go live with her mom down in Jacksonville, FL, but this fails and she ends up staying with her dad in Forks, WA.New Moon Cast

Bella lapses into an adrenaline-junkie state and starts to do crazy things. She claims she  sees a kind of guardian angel, ghost image of her love Edward.

Soon after she does this, for the first time, she sees Edward. She then meets her friend Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner), and begins to fall in love with him after a sequence of events. This begins the love triangle that will span the rest of the movie.

A few practical suicide attempts and life saving feats by Jacob later, Bella is in love with both Jacob and Edward completely. The movie goes on until Alice, (Edward’s sister), comes to tell Bella that Edward has heard of her death and wishes to now die as well.

With this news she must now go save her true love Edward from killing himself. She races to the city where he is and gets to the clock tower just as Edward is opening the doors to kill him at noon when everyone is in the plaza. She pushes him back inside he is saved and Bella is practically forced to decide to either become a vampire, or she and Edward will die. She makes the logical choice and decides to become a vampire.

She arrives home and Jacob then sees her with Edward, which infuriates him leaving Bella with another huge decision. Edward or Jacob. She picks Edward, Jacob is angry and the movie ends.

In my opinion, me being a guy, this movie was just average. Its story was OK; its plot mediocre; the acting, I would say, was below average. The female population, on the other hand, was very pleased with the movie, as well as seeing Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson shirtless. This appears to be one of the prominent reasons girls go and see the movie.

If I were to give this film a grade it would be B-, but due to Taylor Lautner, it gets an A+ in the eyes of girls all over the world. Long story short, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson pulled in huge dough from the movies record shattering opening weekend.
