Carrots on the Food Gatherers property stand like columns of a Greek temple. This landmark symbolizes Food Gatherers. The carrots represent nutrition, practicality and deep roots like that of Food Gatherers. Food Gatherers is Michigan’s first food rescue program, founded in 1988.
“The Gathering Farm” on Food Gatherers property near front of Food Gatherers warehouse. The farm was created in 2009 and was made to enable Food Gatherers to be more reliable and consistent in the donations it makes. The crops grown are specially selected to meet the nutritional demands of those in need.
Adjacent to the giant carrots is the Food Gatherers Building at 1 Carrot Way. The colorful building has carrots painted all along the facade. The carrot theme continues throughout the building. The carrot is also part of the organization’s logo.

Food Gatherers trucks parked beside warehouse. These trucks are used to collect food from food donors and other partners of Food Gatherers. Trucks are used to collect and rescue food from stores almost every weekday. Volunteers help load the trucks at retailers and unload and sort the food at the warehouse where the food is stored before given to partnering programs.
