To help kick off the new semester, the song of the day today is filled with warm, buttery, soul, the kind that melts in your mouth and gets you starting your semester right. “All Time Love”, the first single to be released for Jeff Bradshaw’s upcoming record, “Home”, is a true jam. I’m saying that because, while Eric Robertson and Tweet drop flawless vocals, Jeff Bradshaw’s trombone playing meld perfectly with the rest of the band —including Robert Glasper on the keyboard— to create a relaxed studio groove that really lets the camaraderie of the musicians shine through. From the opening keyboard riff, to the smiles on the faces of the people in the music video, to the look of calm on Bradshaw’s face when he takes his smooth and eloquent trombone solo, this song sets out to create a happy, loving atmosphere and it really delivers. The lyrics tell the story of two people who have always loved each other but never really got together, and so the song has the general aesthetic of things finally coming together: whether it’s the lovers described in the lyrics, or the different voices that the whole band brings to this recording. Since this song dropped about two weeks ago, I’ve had it on constant repeat, and it has done a great job whetting my appetite for the full album, “Home”.
