Song of the day: “Glory” by John Legend and Common

Though both Common and John Legend released the majority of there great music in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, they created a gem in this one. This is “take me to church” music at its best, the type of music that makes you want to join a choir, hold hands and sing to the heavens. And though common doesn’t have the hardcore sound he used to, his lyricism is as good as ever, with lines like “Justice is juxtapositioning us / justice for all just ain’t specific enough.” The line is so beautiful that you can almost overlook the fact that “juxtapositioning” isn’t an actual word. The song was made for the civil rights movie “Selma”, (great movie, check it out), which follows Martin Luther King Jr.’s march from Selma to the capitol of Alabama. And though Common’s acting in the movie was only okay, wait for this song in the credits, and it will all seem worth it.
