“SUGAR”
BROCKHAMPTON’s fifth album, GINGER, sees the boy band lean more towards the melancholy slow jams we got on their last album, IRIDESCENCE. The track “SUGAR” is the best the boys have to offer when it comes to a light, moody, love song. Ryan Beatty’s sweet falsetto vocals on the chorus tell a story of longing, while Dom McLennon, Matt Champion, and Kevin Abstract’s verses go from tortured to nostalgic to content, respectively. The song is perfect for if you’re really happy or really sad, but the vocals on this track are too good to listen to if you’re feeling ambivalent.
