Views on fall

the newly fallen

red, orange, and yellow leaves

crunch beneath my feet

with each light step I take.

the broad trees

becoming more bare

with each passing day

exposing their skeletons inside.

fall is here

in all her glory

the bright colors of the world

illuminated for a brief moment

before it all dies.

as the air becomes crisper

and colder

nipping at my fingers and toes

I know this is only the beginning.

soon, light coats will become parkas,

and mittens will be substituted for pockets.

despite this, the sun shines

ever brighter on my face

letting me enjoy

this beautiful world.
