Music for the quarantine
With the unprecedented reality of social distancing and physical isolation, I often find myself consuming art and media religiously. In regards to the music that I consume, I notice myself gravitating towards a more somber yet inspiring sound. As best highlighted by 2015 Mercury Prize winner, Benjamin Clementine with songs like “Condolence,” and “I Won’t Complain,” where the deeply personal lyrics and dramatic execution take me to new places while still remaining physically isolated. Accompanied by more upbeat rhythms, such as OutKast’s “Hey Ya!’, and Jay Electronica’s “Exhibit C,” this playlist has got something for everyone.
