Tahini Recipe
The aroma of roasted sesame seeds and freshly cut herbs fill my kitchen, my dad and I preparing to put all of the ingredients in our unfailing and beloved food processor. Whenever we have people over for dinner or simply decide to cook Middle Eastern food, the tahini grabs more attention than the entrée itself. This simple yet delicious condiment is the perfect addition to dishes like falafel, baba ganoush, salads and more.
1 can of Joyva Tahini
½ of a lemon
½ – ¾ cup of water (depending on desired consistency)
¼ cup of olive oil
1-2 garlic cloves, roasted
A bunch of cilantro, finely chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
In a food processor, pour the tahini and lemon juice before adding the herbs and garlic. Pulse to combine and between intervals, add olive oil and water. If a thicker consistency is wanted, add less water. If you’d like a thinner consistency, adjust water levels. Add salt and pepper to taste. Lastly, serve with warm pita bread and extra herbs before enjoying.
