CHS Lottery Opens

CHS Lottery Opens
Morgan McClease

As of this morning, the lottery for CHS’s class of 2028 has opened. Students and their families can complete an online application on the AAPS CHS website.

Once the entrance period ends on Feb. 12, 2024, students will receive their temporary student ID number for the lottery. On Feb. 16, the results will be published. What should families expect this to look like?

Each student’s temporary ID number will be listed next to their random lottery number. Lottery numbers one through 132 are offered a spot immediately, while everyone else is placed on the waitlist.

The lottery is the only way for students to have the opportunity to attend CHS. CHS freshman Isla Tharp suggests that all interested families enter the lottery so they have choices regarding high school registration.

“I applied because I wanted the option to go [to CHS] and then after exploring the school and what it offers I was really glad that I had applied because if I hadn’t then I would’ve missed out,” Tharp said.
