Jacob Coolidge has lived in and around Ann Arbor his whole life, but it wasn’t until he started working at the Ann Arbor Farmers Market that he got to know the beautiful and diverse community. Coolidge, who is a staff member at Nemeth’s Greenhouse & Farms based in Milan, Michigan has been working at the local market for just over three months now.
“I have been on farms my whole life,” Coolidge said. “I love produce farming and I’m friends with the owner [of Nemeths Greenhouse & Farms].”
Nemeths Greenhouse & Farms sells fruits, vegetables and donuts all year-round. But during the holiday season, the business also vends handmade wreaths which vary in size, color and decoration.
“We hand make all of our wreaths,” Coolidge said. “We start with a circle wreath and then screw wires on the back of it. We break twigs and push them through the wires. Then, the wreath is ready to be decorated with pinecones and white and red bows.”
For Coolidge, the holiday season consists of three key things: cold weather, good food and time spent with family. He is looking forward to these things throughout the next few months in addition to spreading holiday cheer, one wreath at a time.
