On Oct. 27, CHS took a trip down memory lane as students and staff came to school in outfits representing various decades. This day of spirit week, Decades Day, challenged participants to explore previous fashion trends and interpret them to fit their own unique style.
Each grade level was assigned a decade, and for junior Aliya Shirato, this was the ‘60s.
“I’m wearing an apron to show that I’m a housewife, because that’s what most women were in the ‘60s,” Shirato said. “It just shows how women were oppressed in that era.”
In light of the vintage theme, many students also borrowed clothing items from their parents or rediscovered thrifted treasures. This is no different for freshman Jasmine Jennings, who went all out with tank tops, shirts and accessories of all different colors.
“I’m doing lots of layers of tank tops, and I think that’s really hideous,” Jennings said. “But I think that’s very 2000s.”
Decades Day was unfortunately the last day of Spirit Week, but students and staff can look forward to next week’s Halloween costume contest for even more unique fashion and CHS spirit.
