Mock Trial season has officially started! The mock trial case for the season was released on Oct. 20. Die-hard members of the mock trial team fled to Chloe Root’s room and picked up the case as soon as they could.

Naturally, the case stirred up many opinions.

Students met in Chloe Root’s room for their first official meeting on Oct. 23. The meeting entailed a review of basic mock trial materials and then a read-through. Groups of students read through every witness statement and reviewed the evidence provided for this case.

Some felt the case was too silly, while others found it hilarious. Despite members’ personal takes on the case, all must be mentally prepared to embody and defend these ridiculous characters com competition season.

“I’m really excited about the season! I think this team is going to be killer,” Root said. “There are a lot of really cool new people who have come out who I’m excited to get to know better. And all of the returning members are amazing. And that just makes me feel happy to see them again.”

The mock trial team is currently preparing for auditions and is excited to get started.
