Milk & Froth was started as a local ice cream truck in Detroit in 2019, with a mission to not only offer traditional ice cream flavors, but also to introduce new and unique flavors for all to enjoy. Made from scratch in small batches at a kitchen in the Eastern Market, what started as a humble ice cream truck quickly grew into a local sensation, drawing crowds with its unique flavors and dedication to quality. Co-owners Alexis Matteson and Deion Cao pour their hearts into every batch, experimenting with ingredients and recipes.
Now boasting two locations, one in Detroit in the Historic Bhul Building and one in Ann Arbor on 328 S. Main St.,
Matteson and Cao proudly proclaim Milk & Froth as one of the few places where real ice cream is made. They use fresh ingredients, eschewing pre-manufactured mixes, colors or chemical stabilizers, with the goal of creating the best ice cream in the country, right in Metro Detroit.
Staff Journalist Jonathan Carter tried a scoop of the Sea Salt Butter Cake flavor. Each bite had an individual piece of the butter cake that melted in the mouth, and the sea salt added a much-needed contrast to the sweetness of the butter cake pieces.
Milk & Froth offers over seven main flavors including Salted Caramel, Pecan Butter Brittle, and Matcha Pistachio, with four non-dairy also options available. A couple of those options are Coffee & Cream and Peppermint Patty. The cost of a single scoop is $5. dd-ons consist of either a waffle cone for an additional $1 or additional scoops for an additional $3.
Today, Milk & Froth stands as a beacon of artisanal excellence. Their commitment to using only the finest ingredients sets them apart in an industry dominated by mass production. Customers can taste the difference in every bite, knowing that each cone represents hours of dedication and passion.
