With the exception of a few sports most athletes in AAPS will have their tryouts for the spring season over the next few days. Even athletes without explicit tryouts are still faced with the energy of the new season.
Full of nerves and uncertainty, spring sports tryouts provoke all types of feelings. For Sam McGee, a sophomore at CHS and soccer player for Huron, the week marks the beginning of a very fun next few months.
“I’ve been through the process before,” McGee said. “My first year I was very, very nervous, but I feel kind of secure, now that I know the coaches and the team.”
She recognizes and has experienced the nerves that come with tryouts, but “it’s more excitement than nervousness.” as McGee describes it. Despite her feeling prepared for tryouts, the busy week is just the beginning of a busy season. McGee loves playing for Huron and the community she has there, regardless of the time-management difficulties.
Once tryouts are over and teams are finalized, athletes will begin practices and games, and the spring season will be in full swing.
