Ever since I came to CHS, I’ve felt that field day has been an event that promoted bonding within the students but also created a type of forum competition. As Forums were competing in the relay races and tug of war, CHS turned from a small Highschool with no sports into an energetic, competitive sports team. I felt that I was able to bond with my forum during tug-of-war, and even though we didn’t make it far, I still enjoyed the experience and felt that it was worthwhile.
During lunchtime, the smell of all types of food wafted around the park. Forums brought delicious foods that ranged from burgers, to pizza and Papa John’s sandwiches. In between the events, people from all forums gathered to eat, play sports, and hang out. Those were some of the moments where school was like family. Not only do these events bring forum members together, but they also bring everyone in the school together as well. During the mile run activity, I saw an incredible amount of support from everyone as people crossed the finish line. Seeing everyone come together is an invaluable experience, and I’m even more excited for the field days to come.
So what makes field day great? Of course everyone has their own opinions and preferences but what makes field day great for me is getting to be part of a community. A community is what makes people happy and connects them. That’s why we at CHS are one and celebrate ourselves with Field Day.
