On September 8, 2024, the Michigan Wolverines played the Texas
Longhorns at the Big House. After a new head coach hire, winning the national championship the previous year, and losing their star quarterback, the Wolverines have a lot of work to do this season. After their win against Fresno State last week, the Wolverines had some momentum for the start of the season. All that was put to the test against the number three-ranked team, and it showed. Michigan struggled to find their footing. With a loss during the second game of the season, the Wolverines broke their 29 home regular-season win streak, the first home loss since 2020.
New head coach, Sherrone Moore, certainly had big shoes to fill after replacing Jim Harbaugh this year. It doesn’t help that his first season as head coach is off to a rocky start.
Moore’s approach to handling this loss for the Wolverines is to use it as a means to improve, he wants to focus on bringing the team together and growing through this loss.
In a press conference on Monday, Coach Moore commented on the team’s loss. “My message to the team was that it’s going to take resolve.
We haven’t lost here in a while. We don’t like losing.” Moore said. “We’re going to take everything we can on all three phases to get better, and through every little piece, my message to them was that we’ve got to do it together. You can’t finger-point, and you find out who you are on the team when adversity strikes.”
Our voted Player of the Game is going to Michigan’s kicker, Dominic Zvada. Zvada had two impressive field goals this game, one of which being 37 yards and the other being a incredible 52 yard kick.
