The movie in itself was fantastic, most of it having to do with the tremendous actors and actresses on screen. The banter was witty, the action was spot on. The plot was shaky, but who cares. Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) is witty and lights up every character on screen with him. But he is not alone. Many other big names were cast, such as Scarlett Johansson and Sam Rockwell.
Rockwell played Justin Hammer, the competition of Stark in the weapons business striving to build a better machine. Every time Rockwell enters the screen he pulls the audience’s attention towards him. There is a scene where his character is just awkwardly butting in on Stark’s conversation, and he does it beautifully.
Critics say they wanted to see more of Scarlett Johansson – I did too, but I understand why she wasn’t in more. Though she’s a brilliant actress the screen was crowded with Gwenyth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Micky Rourke, and Samuel Jackson. All together they made up a phenomenal cast of witty remarks and extraordinary acting.
There was also quite a lot of action sequences that took up a remarkable portion of the movie. But the chemistry of the actors left you wanting to hear more of what they would say and less of the action.
Though it didn’t have quite as much of a plot as the first Iron Man, it was still a worthwhile movie, and worth the money I spent on it. Go see it, have fun, and wait for the little surprise at the end after the credits.
