Netflix’s “Outer Banks” has once again stunned audiences with its newest season. On Oct. 10, 2024 the “Top Ten” section of Netflix once again had the show “Outer Banks” in it. With season four coming out in two parts, fans were left waiting till Nov. 7, 2024 to find out how the story would come to an end.
Part one of season four picks up where season three left off.he Pogues, a group of teens on the Outer Banks (Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline), John Booker Routledge (Chase Stokes), Pope Heyward (Jonathan Davis), JJ Maybank (Rudy Pankow), Kiara Carrera (Madison Bailey), and Cleo Anderson (Carlacia Grant) successfully retrieved the gold they were searching for, leaving them with $1.1 million in their shared bank account. With this money, the Pogues attend an auction where JJ Maybank’s old, run down house is up for sale. The Pogues start off strong at the auction, attempting to keep JJ’s house. The Pogues were trying to save as much money as possible to build a shop on JJ’s property. However, JJ’s emotional attachment to the house takes over. JJ ends up winning the house for $750k, spending most of the money they’re trying to save. The rest of the Pogues are unhappy with the cost of JJ’s purchase. However, they end up building a fishing shop, and earning money back from this business.
“Outer Banks” has once again portrayed the typical teenager today, with language, clothes, and relationships. Shot in Charleston, South Carolina, it gives the perfect feel for the show. These elements draw the audience in with the marshy, beachy, and sometimes sandy backgrounds.
The character JJ went through a lot in season 4. From finding out that his father was not actually his father to almost drowning to actually dying, he always brought energy to the screen. When JJ discovered Luke (Gary Weeks) was not his biological father, and that it was actually Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crane), JJ could not believe it.
While JJ is still trying to comprehend that Luke is not his biological father, the Pogues believe that Blackbeard’s Crown (which is the treasure they are searching for this season) is in Morocco. The Pogues travel by boat to get to Morocco in hopes to reach Blackbeard’s Crown. While traveling, a big storm hits and Sarah goes overboard. JJ jumps in to try to save her. A big wave takes them under the deep water, and they are suddenly out of sight. The Pogues reach land, and grieve over JJ and Sarah’s “death”. The next morning, John B sees two people walking towards them. JJ and Sarah managed to swim to land and survive after the storm.
Fast forward to the last episode, lasting 85 minutes, the Pogues manage to find the crown. JJ has it in his hands, but Groff wants it from him. He puts Kie in a chokehold, and threatens to kill her if he doesn’t hand over the crown. JJ hands him the crown, and Groff stabs JJ deep in his stomach. JJ falls to the ground and Groff runs away with the crown. JJ dies in Kies arms, his last words being “Take care of the others, I love you Kie”.
This ending left fans devastated by a big character’s death. “Outer Banks” has once again put out an amazing season. Everything from the costumes to the setting of the show is perfect to watch whenever and wherever. Netflix has announced on Monday, Nov. 4 2025 that the fifth and final season of “Outer Banks” will be released, giving something for fans to look forward to with the Pogues moving on from JJs death, and fans are suspecting they will be searching for a new treasure once again.
