Sylvia Stoermer, a CHS freshman, is adjusting to high school with a mix of excitement and determination. The start of her freshman year was rocky due to the significant shift from middle school to high school, but she credits the support of others for helping her thrive. “Honestly, the beginning of my freshman year was a little rocky in the beginning because of the HUGE shift from middle school to high school, but I had a lot of really supportive people that helped me get my feet back under me and really start to thrive at community,” Stoermer said. “And I’m really thankful that I get to be part of the experience at CHS!”

Caitlin Smith plays pin the nose on the mole for Mole Day in their 6th block science class. Smith noted that Marcy McCormick dressing up as a mole was the best part of Mole Day. "I have a math test next week, and all these things happening," Smith said. "It's pretty good to have some relaxing time and just chit chat with my friends and have a grand old time, especially because I understand the material pretty well so I didn't feel the need to have an intense study day."

Addie McCreadie gives Maggie Lamb a piggyback ride up the third floor stairs in an effort to prove her strength. Lamb expressed interest in being carried like the backpack that so often weighs her down as she makes her way up the stairs, and McCreadie was happy to test her fitness. "I felt like it was mutually beneficial," McCreadie said. "I got a little workout in, I broke a sweat and Maggie didn't. Really, I think it was a special moment for us both."

Anna Chomistek pushes through the bitter wind and the rain to honor a Pioneer field hockey team tradition: retro day. Chomistek ran with the ball, wearing a past Pioneer field hockey jersey, demonstrating all the change in progress this program has experienced. "It was really cool seeing all the different jerseys that have been used in the past." Chomistek said. "I thought it was super interesting how they've changed so much from 46 years ago."

Willow Rosenfeld and Isla Tharp work on designing a sign for the Halloween dance. They were part of Forum Council's decorations committee when the project was assigned. "The atmosphere in FOCO was really fun today because everyone was working hard to get ready for the dance," Rosenfeld said. "It feels like we're working well together as a council, and I'm excited for the dance!"

When they’re not expertly steering the chaos of The Communicator, Luca can be found performing in CET’s theatre program, participating in mock trial, or working as a weekend barista.
