To CHS sophomore Justin Davis, robotics competitions are a way to learn more about how other robotics teams work and see how his team’s approach compares. After several months of work, it can be hard to admit that things could have been done better, but Davis saw self-criticism as an important way to get as much as possible out of competitions. “I’m confident that we can do well next time,” Davis said. “Considering how we did in Ferndale, we have things to change, but I’m excited to see what we do.”

Bank has loved being on staff this semester because of people like Freeth and her ability to explore journalism with photography. "Yesterday was my photography debut at orchestra night, and it was really fun because my mom is also a photographer, and she also brought her camera," Bank said. A crowd of observers mark the war in Ukraine's third anniversary by attending a vigil for Ukraine on the Diag. The vigil was directed by Eugene Bondarenko, a Ukrainian native with deep personal ties to the war. “Three years into a war, there's fatigue," Bondarenko said. "Russia's ultimate goals hinge on the fact that people will simply get tired of fighting. Events like this kind of serve as a demonstration that, nope, they’re wrong. I don't know how many years they're going to have to wait, but, you know, Putin biologically doesn't have that many left.”

Charlie Guyton stands in the Zebrotics team mascot costume during a robotics competition. Although Guyton was not a member of the drive team, he found a way to show his support by wearing the costume. "I felt that we had to have someone exemplifying the Zebrotics spirit, and it had to be me," Guyton said. "It was great to put it on and really feel like part of the team."

Chloe Root prepares her Mock Trial A and B teams for a run-through of their case. The teams were going up against each other tonight, A vs. A and B vs. B. "We were talking a little bit about some of the preparations for the upcoming regional tournament in Grand Rapids," Root said. Luca Hinesman and Leo Castilho edit an article in Room 300. Hinesman and Castilho wanted to put the finishing touches on the article before uploading it to The Communicator's website. "I love editing," Hinesman said. "I love looking at people's writing, and seeing where they can grow and how I can help them."

Kai Camara enjoys a sunny afternoon before CET with friends. Kai’s friend was dragging her into the photo to make use of the good lighting and it turned into a fun wrestling game. “When you're outside, you can kind of just be as loud as you want and just have fun without worrying about other people,” Camara said. “In the winter time, I kind of hibernate, but in the summertime, I'm fully me.”
