Found on 15 E Kirby St in Midtown Detroit, Chartreuse Kitchen & Cocktails isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience. The restaurant offers a phenomenal dining experience with its seasonal American dishes. I had the pleasure of dining here with my dad and oldest brother, and I couldn’t have been more impressed.
The overall atmosphere struck a perfect balance between comfortable and modern, with an open kitchen and bar that gave the space an energetic feel. One small but thoughtful touch was the paint color—chartreuse—which added to the restaurant’s unique atmosphere
That being said, the real highlight is the food. The menu follows a sharing-style format, typically recommending two to three starters or appetizers along with a few entrées. While I don’t usually like sharing food, the portion sizes at Chartreuse are well thought out—I felt perfectly satisfied, especially after dessert. Each dish feels well crafted, and it seems whatever you order will be incredible. The one dish that stuck out for me the most was the Madagascar Vanilla Pudding; it was rich creamy and sweet, though not overpowering. It’s so rare for me to stop and savor my food that I might as well say never—but with this pudding, I did. I can say without exaggeration it may be the best thing I have ever tasted. If I had to critique one thing, it would be the pricing. It’s definitely more expensive than your average lunch spot, but given the quality of food portion sizes and overall experience, it is well worth it.
