Edie Kupetz engages in the Wilderness Survival merit badge at a Troop Five Scout meeting. She has enjoyed the outdoor aspects of Scouting America, as well as the leadership and service opportunities that the Troop has provided, but didn’t feel like a part of the group right away. “I was really intimidated at first,” Kupetz said. “I felt like everyone knew what they were doing, and I didn’t.”

Kirra Molek makes a transaction with a student at Community High to fundraise with her club, Heart Fund. Molek previously volunteered at Ozone House and fell in love with community service. "I eventually decided to create this club to make a difference during the holidays," Molek stated. "The inspiration for a bake sale came from other clubs at Community, Its a cute way to raise quick money."

Felix Porter stands along the sideline of the Veterans Memorial Park cyclocross, preparing to hand out candy to the junior racers as they bike past. Porter had been at the course since the more competitive divisions raced earlier in the day, and was disappointed with the conditions. "Really, this isn't proper cyclocross weather," Porter said. "On a good day, there would be rain and mud everywhere, and people would be falling all over the place. That's the fun part about this sport."

Sophomore Ani Ledbetter reads through a bulky textbook. Ledbetter is working on U.S history at CHS Snack and Study. "I like coming to Snack and Study because I get to work with teachers one on one," Ledbetter said. "It helps me not procrastinate so much."

Freshman Zenio Vesia shares his cake with many other students on the back lawn. This became a major event, as peers, including sophomore Felix Porter, flocked to Vesia to grab a piece of cake. "The cake was a day past its sell by date, so we got it for free," Porter said. "It was a pretty yummy, high quality cake. I think there was a cake fight at the end too."

Ellie Robbins works on the second project for her Painting class. She started out confused in the class, but has learned quickly. "This is my first time taking a painting class," Robbins said. "I'm really proud of myself because I've been surprised on how quickly I've caught on."

CHS Sophomores Alice Vandervliet, Anna Chomistek and Sadie Palay smile while sitting on a bench in St. Andrew's Church. Vandervliet, Chomistek and Palay were waiting for the 16th annual Food Gatherers ceremony at CHS to start. "I love being at the Food Gatherers ceremony," Vandervliet said. "It makes me grateful to give back to a community and it's so nice that Community does this. I'm so excited to raise money this year."
