In February 2026, “Scream 7” was released, the long-awaited sequel to “Scream 6.” The hype was real, and fans were thrilled to see Sidney Prescott’s return after taking a break from “Scream 6.”

The franchise is famous for its masked killers, usually a duo, who insert themselves into the protagonist’s life anc dismantle their world, going after and killing many of their loved ones, until it’s only them standing. This time, however, the stakes are larger than ever. There is more on the line than just Sidney’s life. She must protect her legacy and family.
In contrast to most of the series, this movie shifts from the usual point of view of Sidney Prescott that fans are used to, honing in on her daughter, Tatum (Isabel May). We are introduced to Tatum and her friends and after everything is going all too well, Ghostface strikes violently. Sidney immediately goes into lockdown, shutting her house down in an attempt to keep her family safe.
However, Tatum makes the not-so-wise decision to sneak out with her friends, going to a local bar. Everyone knows what’s coming except for them. Ghostface eliminates her friend group and every possible suspect one by one.
The mystery keeps everyone guessing until the very end. Ghostface gathers the family together and reveals themselves, leaving everyone in shock. Gasps were heard throughout the theaters.
As the plot progresses, many parallels between this movie and the others in the franchise are drawn: Tatum’s boyfriend sneaks through her window, echoing Billy Loomis’ iconic entrance in the first film and a bone-chilling moment takes place in the former home of Stu Macher, one of the infamous original killers. Along with this, we are reintroduced to Gale Weathers — a reporter seen at all crime scenes Ghostface appears at — and her two assistants, Chad and Mindy – seen in Scream 5 and 6 – after the first killing. They work on collecting the suspects in one spot, deciphering their motives and alibis.
While most slashers, such as Halloween, only have one murderer, “Scream” flourishes with an ensemble of antagonists. This was one of my favorite “Scream” movies of all time. The plot was easy to follow, but not easy to guess. Although a different perspective was taken than in the previous ones, the directors and actors made it entertaining to watch throughout. The movie was very thrilling and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I attempted to guess who the killers were throughout the movie and when they were finally revealed, I was completely dumbfounded; it was highly unexpected. I never could’ve predicted it.
Despite not living up to some critics’ hopes, it surpassed all of my expectations. I enjoyed every second, and would 100 percent recommend this movie to fans of the “Scream” franchise.
