Tigers Trade Fister

Tigers Trade Fister

On the night of Dec. 2, it was announced that the Tigers traded starting pitcher Doug Fister to the Washington Nationals. This year Fister had career highs in wins and in strikeouts. In return the Tigers will receive infielder Steve Lombardozzi, two left-handed pitchers Ian Krol and  Robbie Ray from the Nationals.

One great part of the deal for the Tigers is it adds depth defensively to the infield. This trade also adds a pair of good young pitchers. This is important because the Tigers don’t have any good pitching prospects in their farm system. The final component to this deal is it will save the Tigers money and will allow them to re-sign some players already on the team. This trade adds two great left handed pitchers who could turn into starting pitcher’s for the Tigers down the road.

Washington will gain another good starting pitcher to solidify their pitching rotation. Now the only thing the Nationals need to worry about is signing a middle infielder. The team is reportedly in negotiations to sign second baseman Robinson Cano.
