High School Performer Katherine Hepburn to Record Live Album at Kerrytown Concert House
Ann Arbor is no stranger to talent. The city’s thriving arts scene has acted as an incubator for an array of world class acts. It is no surprise then that the same scene that produced Iggy Pop and Mayer Hawthorne has fostered a vibrant youth music scene.
Enter Katherine Hepburn. Despite the name, she is of no relation to the actress, but instead a former Skyline student that currently studies at Washtenaw Technical Middle College (WTMC). Hepburn is a singer songwriter who plays the ukulele. She has recently gained notability among local music fans for her extensive and varied repertoire of pop covers. Her myriad covers, which have included everything from Mac Demarco to Lianne La Havas to T-Pain, speak to the diversity of influences in her original compositions.
At 8 p.m. on Jan. 15, Hepburn will record her first live E.P. at the Kerrytown Concert House. It is being produced by the Neutral Zone’s record label, Youth-Owned Records (YOR). The concert will feature Hepburn backed by Skyline seniors Ivan Soucy and Matthew Epperson on drums and bass, as well as a performance by Huron senior Sam Watson.
One of Hepburn’s original songs, 90 Degrees, was included last spring on a compilation album released by YOR. It can be found here:
