Song of the Day: “King of Anything” by Sara Bareilles
Sara Bareilles’ middle name must be sassy (it’s actually Beth, but I was close). I say this because there is nobody more straightforward and sarcastic than the California artist. With lyrics like, “Who cares if you disagree / you are not me” and “You dare tell me who to be / who died and made you king of anything.” It’s difficult to not break up with your significant other after hearing this song. And though her 2007 hit “Love Song” has as much attitude, the vocal backgrounds in this song earn it the award of Song of the Day. Though honestly, you’d think her half-sister Melody would have been the one with the musical talent.
