Migos Takes Hill Auditorium to Top Off SpringFest
On Wednesday April 13, the rap group Migos took the spotlight at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor to top off SpringFest. The group consisting of three members, Quavo, Offset and Takeoff have been making a name for themselves in recent years.
The rowdy crowd made up mostly of the UM student body still failed to fill much of the auditorium, allowing many attendees to move down from the balcony into the main part of the auditorium. Opening for the infamous rap group was Jack Kennedy, former University of Michigan walk on quarterback-turned-rapper. Kennedy led with some light songs as students filled the auditorium then turned it up for one last song. In his final song “Sheep’s Clothing,” there was a surprise visit by the violin monster that brought the Ann Arbor touch back to the concert.
Building their setlist around the songs “Wishy Washy,” “One Time,” “Fight Night” and “Hannah Montana,” the rap group put on an intense performance for the ravenous crowd that showed out for their performance. At the beginning of their song “Hannah Montana,” Migos invited Jim Harbaugh, the well-known University of Michigan football coach onto the stage as well as several Michigan football players who stepped up and ‘dabbed’ for the crowd.
The performance started late and was kept short. The group played 14 songs and though they kept the audience entertained while they were on stage, there was a feel of disappointment in the air after how quickly the concert came to a close.
Migos has been well known for liking to engage student bodies in their performances. Phones were taken on stage and many selfies were taken. Following the concert, Migos brought the hype to Rick’s, a university bar you need an M-Card to access.
