Much of the United States is left in a state of shock and disbelief at the victory of Donald Trump. After Clinton’s lead throughout the polls, and coverage of that throughout the news, social media, and television shows, her sudden loss serves as a surprise outcome to Americans. She had been campaigning very hard, and had many people backing her up.

Disappointment is spreading around at the fact that we didn’t end up having our first female president. Hopes that Clinton would shatter the ultimate glass ceiling, and become the nation’s first female president were quickly erased from voter’s minds after Trump’s win.

Twitter is blowing up with complaints, people saying how disappointed, embarrassed, and angry they are; they’re stating how ashamed they are that so much hate is running through the country. Many people are mentioning how worried they are for minorities, and bringing up Trump’s statements against those groups. Some have also mentioning their concern for women after what is rumored about Trump’s inappropriate behavior with young girls, and his apparent trial for child rape in December. Hashtags such as, “he’s not my president” and, “I’m still with her” are all over Twitter’s media. Lady Gaga tweeted a picture of her protesting in New York in front of Trump tower; she holding up a, “love Trumps hate” sign and her tweet reads, “ I want to live in a #countryofkindness where #lovetrumpshate.”

Many other protests have also gone up on the morning of Nov. 9, 2016 in opposition to Trump’s win, many of which took place in California, where Hillary Clinton had a wide margin of victory; one person was hospitalized after being hit by a car. Hundreds of students gathered at campuses throughout the state. Several people gathered at Capitol Hill in Seattle early in the morning. Over a hundred protesters swarmed the streets in Oakland, smashing windows, and burning things, where at least one person was badly injured.

The stock market has already started to go down due to it’s anxiety about Trump’s disbelief in trade. Several people have been selling stocks. This leaves people in a worried state for our stock market’s future during his presidency.

There’s been a lot of negativity towards Trump due to his temperament. Some of the things he has said during his campaign have offended many people, and have targeted certain minorities. Several people are anxious about the next four years due to some of the things he’s said; he’s considered to be a bully by many people.
