Forum Council gets started
The theme in Matt Johnson’s room on Monday during lunch was novelty. The first forum council meeting of the year was happening, with a new advisor, Johnson, and new ideas for the year. Johnson started the meeting by asking what the members wanted out of forum council this year, and the most common idea was that people wanted to actually get things done.
“Last year, forum council was about a lot of students complaining about things in the school, and wanting to get things done, but getting stopped,” Emma Hoffman, a senior at Community said.
A variety of other topics were discussed in mainly preliminary conversation about what the council wanted to get done this year, including parking, diversity and recruitment, water bottle fillers and coolers, and elections.
“We want [forum council] to be a way for students to make changes,” said Julia Ammer, a senior who is running for forum council president. “We want to get things done.”
