“One time I felt successful was the day of the festival last year for Live On Washington. It was so amazing to be together with all of my peers that I’ve been working with all year round to put on this huge show. Just seeing everyone smile in the audience was such a life-changing experience. It just made me feel so proud of myself and all the other curators. It was amazing to see how smooth everything went down. There wasn’t anyone that we felt disrespected the Live On Washington name. Also, even when our community partners seemed to be dropping out right before the festival, everyone worked together to replace them quickly, it was great. All of our members showed up, and were ready to work from early in the morning to late that night. Just seeing everyone and that like happiness by the end of the night after getting to meet some of the headliners was genuinely life-changing.”
