“A lot of communities in Europe have healthier societies than [in America]. There’s more social mobility for more groups of people. In the Netherlands, I witnessed better ways that things can be. Even with capitalism, the playing field is more level. There are a lot of Turkish people in the Netherlands and I have also been to Turkey. I was nervous when [Dutch people] were voting for their version of Trump β€”an Islamaphobic hate monger. The difference between here and there is he didn’t get the seat because their checks and balances work, while ours seem not to. In the Netherlands, things were better for all of the friends that I met, regardless of their nationality. So, I just want to be there.”
