“The Noel Diary” Review
“The Noel Diary” is a heart-warming romantic holiday movie and an adaptation of the novel by Richard Paul Evans. This Netflix production follows best-selling novelist Jake Turner (Justin Hartley, “This Is Us”) and Rachel Campbell (Barrett Doss, “Station 19”) who is in search of her birth mother.
It begins with Jake who arrives back home in Connecticut to sort out his “estranged mother’s estate” and in the process of cleaning out her home, he finds a diary filled with secrets from his and Rachel’s past. As they go on a journey to find Jake’s even more estranged father in hopes of learning more about Rachel’s mother the two become closer and romantic sparks fly.
In the movie, we also see James Remar, Bonnie Bedelia, and Essence Atkins. Remar portrays Jake’s father, living alone in Vermont hoping for the day when he will finally see his son again. Jake’s loving neighbor is played by Bedelia, who has never forgotten who Jake truly is. Meanwhile, Atkins plays Rachel’s biological mother, who nannied for Jake when he was young, never once forgetting the daughter she has always loved.
