Turning point: Fina Kutcher
“Do it and I’ll give you 100 lollipops,” a voice echoed from the water below. The highest diving board must’ve been no more than 10 feet tall, but as I stood looming over the lake it felt like I was standing atop a skyscraper. My older sister looked onto me with shame as my little eight year old legs trembled with fear and anticipation. Calls from parents back on the shore lured me closer and closer to giving up and climbing back down, but as my sister turned away to leave I held my breath and jumped. But I was betrayed; I never got those lollipops.
