GVMMY’s Picks: Deftones by White Pony
One of the most notorious contemporary heavy metal bands, Deftones, is known for their dream-like, melancholic writing and their droning, engulfing atmosphere. Having all their projects and works in mind, “White Pony” arguably defines Deftones best as a group and their musical values. Lead singer Chino Moreno’s vocals continue to channel passion through his performance, whether he’s doing his signature, deafening screams or giving one of the most delicate, yet gut-wrenching performances as he lightly croons. Even with their experimentation of sound design, their ever-changing song structures, and enigmatic, yet haunting writing, “White Pony” will surely leave an impression.
