"I'm so, so happy that I get to paint a mural at Community," LaVeta said. "I'm excited to leave my mark on Community with some awesome art."

Angela Davis watches the unveiling of the Jones School plaque. Davis was proud of how hard the community worked to put up this marker and uncover pieces of Ann Arbor’s history. “Where we are is the mecca of the Black community, and to have this marker, the ceremony, the veiling on the marker, and everything else that's going on really speaks volumes for everyone,” Davis said. “We are successful. We are family. And that doesn't mean just us, but that means we are family with everyone. Really proud to be a part of this ceremony.”

Izzy Santiago is a freshman, soon to be a sophomore, with a lot on her mind. This school year, she has been a part of The Communicator, The Midnight Sun and Mock Trial, yet has managed to make many friends and memories already. "Me and Alden met through DJing," Santiago said. "We met at Commstock and are in the same journalism class, so naturally we decided a Kerrytown photoshoot was what we should do during that block."

My name is Jane Grocoff and I’m a sophomore at Community High School! I do ballet at Ballet Chelsea, and I am S’ganit (Vice President Programing) of my BBYO chapter, a jewish youth group.
