Tiny squares, rounded edges and uneven corners create a puzzle that only makes sense when each piece is in its rightful place. Within the intricate and beautiful details of humanity, every difference tells its own story. No one of us is exactly the same. At first, that might seem obvious, but when you look closer at identity, relationships, beliefs and emotions, it evolves into something deeper.
What “fits” us isn’t fixed. It shifts continuously as new versions of ourselves take shape. The clothes that once made us feel confident might not sit the same anymore. Friendships that once felt unbreakable may fade into something distant. Even our dreams and ambitions can loosen around the edges, making space for new ones to take their place.
At Community, we see this evolution every day. Our school’s unique structure gives students room to grow, change and redefine what “fit” means to them. For some it’s the feeling of being physically fit, pushing themselves to be as fast or as strong as they can be. For others, it’s fit checks and “outfit of the days” and feeling their style as their identity. It’s not only considering how to fit in with the people around them, but also discovering the feeling of being fit for themselves.
“Fit” isn’t about staying the same; it’s about learning to see ourselves change. It’s in the senior who no longer recognizes their freshman-year self. It’s in the student who switches friend groups or finds belonging in a new club. It’s in the classmate who’s grown physically, emotionally and mentally, which is all a reminder of how much transformation happens over four short years. We shed our old selves, make space for new ones and realize that who we’re becoming deserves the same acceptance as who we once were.
Through this edition, we explore that process in all its forms: the tension, the searching and finally, the click — the moment when something feels right, or at least right for now. Together, these stories remind us that fitting in isn’t about blending; it’s about becoming.
